PokerStars Poker Leagues
In order to market in specific places in the world, PokerStars host a lot of promotions that are restricted to certain places in the world. For instance, let’s take a look at their various poker leagues.
If you want to join a poker league on the Poker Stars download, you play certain MTTs so that you can win leaderboard points. You place higher on the leaderboard if you can earn more points than everyone else. The top players receive pre-determined prizes and, of course, bragging rights.
Right now there are three different regional poker leagues on PokerStars, and I will spend the rest of the article discussing them.
You can play in a poker league if you live in Australia or New Zealand, and there are three different divisions that offer three different prizes. Every day there are daily $5 tournaments for Division 1, and you will have the chance to win a $300 first prize every month. Every day there are daily freeroll tourneys for Division 2, and you will have the chance to win a $100 first prize every month. Division 3 allows you to buy-in for 2,000 play money chips every day at 19:30 AEST, and it has a monthly first prize of $40. I have just listed the top prizes for each leaderboard; every month there are cash prizes for the top 100 in each division.
If you live in Finland, you have the Finnish Poker League to keep them busy every month. Although the stakes for the tourneys in this league are much higher than in New Zealand league, usually bigger stakes means better prizes!
This league has two divisions, and there are monthly cash prizes to be won in each. Playing in the FPP division costs you 25 FPPs per tourney and gives you the chance to win up to $250 for taking first place. The cash division requires that you pay $11 at 19:20 CET to enter each tournament, but the top prize goes up to a handsome $1,000. This league only pays the top 50 players in each division.
PokerStars shows that they are one of the best Euro poker sites online by offering bonus European Poker Tour seats for the best players in the league. Four times per year, the best nine players in each division receive an invitation to play in a freeroll that awards a seat for an EPT event.
The last regional poker league I will talk about today is that from Norway. The Norwegian league is very similar to the Finnish league, although there are a couple differences to take note of. For example, the tournament start times are different than the ones for Finland. Another difference is that an EPT package is awarded five times per year instead of four.
